ASM and GSM list today

NSE currently lists 210 securities under the Additional Surveillance Measure and 77 under the Graded Surveillance Measure. Both are market-integrity frameworks: being on them changes how a stock may be traded — the price band, the margin, sometimes the settlement cycle itself — and says nothing directly about the company's business.

Dates, separately. ASM list as published for 24 September 2026; GSM list as published for 23 September 2026. The exchange refreshes the two on different schedules, so they are stamped separately rather than merged under one “as of” date that would be wrong for one of them.

What each framework actually restricts

  • ASM responds to unusual trading behaviour — sharp price moves, volume spikes, client concentration. The usual consequences are a tightened price band and 100% margin, which is why so many stocks that hit a 2% or 5% circuit are on this list.
  • GSM responds to a price that looks disconnected from financial fundamentals. It escalates hardest: upper stages move a stock into periodic call auction — trading only once a week — and require buyers to deposit an additional amount equal to the value of their purchase, held for months.
  • A stock can sit in both frameworks at once. Where NSE's own description says so, it is reproduced verbatim in the table below rather than summarised.

Why this list matters if you already hold one of these stocks

The framework changes the mechanics of getting out. A tightened band means the stock can only fall a small percentage a day — which sounds protective, but in practice means a stock under sustained selling locks at its floor session after session with a queue of unfilled sell orders that never clears. Trade-for-trade settlement removes the option of selling intraday. At upper GSM stages, trading happens once a week.

None of that is a prediction about the price. It is a description of how much freedom you have to act, which is worth knowing before rather than after.

What is ASM in the share market?

Additional Surveillance Measure — a framework SEBI and the exchanges apply to securities showing unusual price or volume behaviour. It is a market-integrity tool, not an accusation against the company. A stock placed under ASM typically has its price band tightened and may require a higher margin, which makes it markedly harder to trade.

What is the difference between ASM and GSM?

ASM responds to unusual trading activity — sharp moves, volume spikes, concentration — and comes in short-term and long-term variants with numbered stages. GSM, the Graded Surveillance Measure, targets securities whose price appears disconnected from their financial fundamentals, and escalates through stages that can restrict trading to weekly sessions and demand a 100% deposit from buyers. A stock can be under both.

What happens when a stock is placed under ASM or GSM?

The restrictions escalate by stage. Common consequences are a narrowed price band (often 5% or 2%), 100% margin on positions, a move to trade-for-trade settlement where intraday trading is not permitted, and at higher GSM stages, trading only once a week with an additional surveillance deposit. The exact measure depends on the stage, which is listed for every stock here.

Is a stock under surveillance a bad investment?

The framework does not make that judgement and neither does this page. What it does tell you is that the mechanics of trading that stock have changed: exiting is harder, the band is narrower, and the capital required is larger. Those are real, practical risks regardless of what you think of the business.

How does a stock get removed from the ASM or GSM list?

By review. The exchanges reassess the list periodically and move securities down a stage or out of the framework when the behaviour that triggered it subsides. Because these pages refresh from the exchange’s current file, a stock leaving the framework simply stops appearing here.
