Trent share price today

TRENT

Trent (NSE: TRENT), the Tata group’s retailer, has done something Indian retail spent two decades failing at: making fashion retail compound. Zudio — sharp fashion at ₹499 price points — became the fastest store-rollout story in the country’s history, stacked on Westside’s steadier full-price franchise. The five-year numbers are absurd for retail: sales CAGR 50.6%, profit CAGR 68.7%.

The stock knows: 96.5× earnings. What you are really buying at ₹3,108 is the proposition that the rollout runway is long and the economics survive scale. This article prices that proposition three ways.

Why Zudio works when others didn’t

Indian value fashion failed repeatedly on one of two rocks: inventory (fashion misses marked down into losses) or economics (rents and shrinkage eating thin margins). Zudio’s model attacks both — tight SKU discipline, rapid stock turns, standardised small-box stores that pay back fast, and the Tata balance sheet behind expansion. Store count compounding is the growth engine; same-store sales are the health check to watch each quarter.

The questions from here: how many Zudios India absorbs before cannibalisation (the bull case says several times today’s count), whether Star (groceries) becomes a third engine or a distraction, and margin durability as competition copies the format.

Trent share price target 2026 to 2030

EPS base ₹32.2 (TTM). Growth this fast decays as the base grows — the scenarios assume it. Bear: rollout saturates early, same-store sales flatten — 15% growth, multiple de-rates hard to 45×. Base: 28% growth as stores keep opening at high paybacks, multiple eases to 65×. Bull: 38% growth with the format still under-penetrated, multiple holds 85×.

YearBear (45×, +15%)Base (65×, +28%)Bull (85×, +38%)
2026₹1,665₹2,680₹3,775
2027₹1,915₹3,430₹5,210
2028₹2,205₹4,390₹7,190
2029₹2,535₹5,620₹9,925
2030₹2,915₹7,190₹13,695

From ₹3,108, the base case is ≈ +131% over four and a half years. But the bear case loses money despite 15% annual growth — that is the tax a 96× entry charges when momentum cools. Few stocks in our universe have a wider gap between business quality (undeniable) and entry-price risk. Buy the corrections; this stock has 20% drawdowns even in good years.

Reasons to own Trent (at the right price)

  1. The best retail execution machine India has produced — 50%+ sales CAGR at improving margins is unheard of in apparel.
  2. Zudio’s store economics: small boxes, fast turns, quick payback — a repeatable unit that scales.
  3. Westside adds a full-price, higher-margin ballast to the value engine.
  4. Tata parentage: capital, real estate access, governance.
  5. ROCE 28% while expanding this fast — growth is not being bought with returns.

The risks: the multiple (96× prices years of flawless rollout), fashion-inventory risk if discipline slips at scale, and Star’s grocery economics diluting the story.

FAQ

What is the Trent share price target for 2030? Base case ≈ ₹7,190 (65× on 28% compounded growth), bear ≈ ₹2,915, bull ≈ ₹13,695. Arithmetic above.

Why is Trent so expensive? Because Zudio made Trent India’s fastest large-scale compounding story — 68.7% five-year profit CAGR — and the market extrapolates the rollout years forward.

What should investors track quarterly in Trent? Store additions, same-store sales growth, and operating margin — in that order. The rollout is the engine; same-store sales tell you if the engine is healthy.
