20 Microns share price today

20 Microns

Anyone searching for the 20 microns ltd share price is looking at one of the less glamorous corners of the Indian materials sector: grinding rock into powder fine enough that paint, plastic, rubber, ceramic and paper makers will pay a premium for it. Incorporated in 1987 and headquartered in Vadodara, the company describes itself as India’s sole and largest manufacturer of micronized to nano-sized minerals, with control of the chain from mining through micronization down to sub-micron and nanosizing.

At the 10 September 2026 research cut-off, the completed-session price was about ₹214.7, market capitalisation about ₹759 crore and trailing EPS ₹19.2. That works out to roughly 11.2 times trailing earnings and 1.56 times a book value of ₹137 per share. The face value is ₹5. Screener also reported a PEG of 0.67, an EV/EBITDA of 6.42 and a dividend yield of 0.57%. The quote above can move after publication; every ratio and scenario input below stays fixed to the stated cut-off.

The tension in this stock is easy to state and hard to resolve. Over ten years profit compounded at about 20% a year and the share price at about the same rate. Over the most recent twelve months, sales grew 2% and profit 9%, and Yahoo’s own trailing comparison showed revenue actually 1% lower year on year. A company that has just finished expanding its asset base is now reporting flat revenue. Either those new assets start earning, or the return on capital that justifies the current multiple starts drifting down.

What 20 Microns actually sells

The business splits into two related product families. Industrial minerals is the volume engine: ball clay, barytes, bentonite, bleaching earth, calcined kaolin, calcium carbonate, diatomaceous earth, dolomite, feldspar, fuller’s earth, kaolin, mica, perlite, ramming mass silica, talc, wollastonite and graphite. Specialty chemicals is the margin engine: precipitated and fumed silica, mullite, performance mineral additives, rheology modifiers, titanium dioxide grades, flame retardants and smoke suppressants, magnesium oxide activators, organoclay additives, zinc oxide opacifier, aluminium silicate, desiccants and wax additives.

Additives and functional gradesFlame retardants, smoke suppressants, desiccantsMeeting a specification or a safety standardQualification cycles create switching cost

End markets span agro, adhesives and sealants, animal feed, batteries, brake composites, cosmetics, ceramics, construction, detergents, edible oil refining, foundry, filtration, inks and pigments, leather, oil and gas, paper, paints and coatings, plastics, rubber, textiles and welding electrodes. That spread is a genuine defence against any single end-market cycle. It also means the company is, in aggregate, a bet on Indian industrial production rather than on one attractive theme. Yahoo classifies the business under Basic Materials and the Other Industrial Metals and Mining industry, and reports 413 employees.

The strategically interesting question is mix. A mining-and-grinding business deserves a mining multiple. A formulation-additives business closer to the peers covered in our Kronox Lab Sciences research or Vinati Organics research can deserve more. Public disclosure here is richer on the product catalogue than on the revenue split between the two, which is the single most useful number an outside investor could be given.

What the 20 Microns Ltd share price reflects today

The stock has moved a long way in a short time, and a pair of dated readings captures that directly. On 5 August 2026, market capitalisation was ₹667 crore and the share was sitting 21.5% below its 52-week high. Five weeks later, on 10 September, market capitalisation was ₹759 crore and the share was only 6.86% below its high. Nothing in the fundamentals moved in that window; the rating did.

The three different 52-week highs are not an error to be resolved so much as a reminder that the window rolls and vendors time-stamp differently. The point that survives all three is the same: this is a stock trading near the top of its own one-year range after a sharp late-summer move, and the entry multiple an investor pays today is not the multiple that was available in early August.

The financial record: FY19 to the latest twelve months

The long record is the strongest part of the case. Revenue rose from ₹356 crore in FY15 to ₹954 crore in FY26. Net profit went from a ₹2 crore loss in FY15 to ₹67 crore in FY26. EPS went from negative ₹0.74 to ₹18.94 over the same span, with equity capital unchanged since FY16, so that growth is not the arithmetic of a shrinking share count.

Financial yearSalesOperating marginNet profitEPS
FY19₹480 Cr14%₹25 Cr₹7.08
FY20₹529 Cr12%₹24 Cr₹6.84

FY26₹954 Cr13%₹67 Cr₹18.94
TTM₹951 Cr13%₹68 Cr₹19.20

Two things stand out. The first is how stable the operating margin has been: between 12% and 14% every year since FY19, through a pandemic, a commodity spike and a step-up in the asset base. For a business whose input is mined rock and whose output is priced against imports, that is a better result than the industry stereotype would predict. Yahoo’s operating margin of 11.05% is lower because it is struck after depreciation; Yahoo’s own EBITDA of ₹120 crore on revenue of ₹952 crore is about 12.6%, which reconciles to Screener’s 13%.

The second is that the last step is small. FY25 to FY26 added ₹41 crore of sales and ₹5 crore of profit, and the trailing twelve months sits marginally below FY26 on revenue. That is a pause, not a decline, but it is the first flat patch since the FY21 dip, when sales fell from ₹529 crore to ₹484 crore. Everything between those two points, FY22 through FY26, was uninterrupted growth, which is why the current stall reads as a break in pattern rather than as normal noise.

Where growth has slowed, and by how much

Screener’s CAGR table is unusually informative here because the deceleration is visible across every horizon rather than hidden in one bad year.

Measure10-year5-year3-yearLatest twelve months
Sales CAGR10%15%11%2%
Profit CAGR20%23%17%9%
Return on equity15%16%16%15% (last year)
Price CAGR20%32%20%Negative 4% (1 year)

The 5 August universe snapshot recorded the same five-year series at 23.38% for profit and 14.55% for sales, against Screener’s rounded 23% and 15% on 10 September. Both readings are shown as reported rather than reconciled.

Read the columns left to right and the pattern is consistent: profit has always grown faster than sales, because margin recovered from the 8% recorded in FY15, and both rates step down as the window shortens. The step-down is not one bad year averaging into a good series: on both sales and profit, each shorter window sits below the longer window that contains it. That nesting is the signature of a business decelerating across several years, not of a single soft quarter dragging an otherwise healthy average down.

This matters more than any single ratio because it is the input the scenario model depends on. A five-year forecast anchored on the five-year historic rate would be extrapolating the strongest window available. A forecast anchored on the trailing twelve months would be extrapolating a single soft patch. The honest range sits between them, which is why the base case below is set near the three-year sales pace rather than the five-year profit pace.

Returns on capital and the balance sheet

ROCE of 17.3% and ROE of 14.5% are solid for a capital-intensive minerals processor, and the ROE series has been remarkably steady at 15% to 16% across ten, five and three years. If the concept is unfamiliar, our guide to return on equity explains what it does and does not capture.

Balance-sheet itemFY21FY23FY25FY26
Equity capital₹18 Cr₹18 Cr₹18 Cr₹18 Cr
Reserves₹197 Cr₹276 Cr₹412 Cr₹466 Cr
Borrowings₹104 Cr₹108 Cr₹165 Cr₹156 Cr
Total assets₹452 Cr₹523 Cr₹713 Cr₹755 Cr

Net worth at FY26 is ₹484 crore, being ₹18 crore of equity capital plus ₹466 crore of reserves. Against borrowings of ₹156 crore that gives a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.32, which is exactly what both Screener and Yahoo report. Yahoo adds total cash of ₹74 crore, so net debt is around ₹82 crore, well under a quarter of a year’s revenue. Our debt-to-equity guide covers why that ratio behaves differently in an asset-heavy business than in a services one.

The important sequence is FY24 to FY25. Total assets rose from ₹588 crore to ₹713 crore, a jump of ₹125 crore in one year, funded partly by ₹44 crore of additional borrowing. Reserves then absorbed the rest. FY26 added only ₹42 crore of assets and borrowings came back down by ₹9 crore, so the heavy spend appears to be behind the company. One caveat belongs here and governs every later reference: the summary balance sheet does not break that ₹125 crore down. Plant, land, inventory and receivables all sit inside the same total, and a ₹125 crore rise could be a capacity addition, a working-capital build, or both. A capacity addition is the reading most consistent with a minerals processor that borrowed to fund the year and then stopped, but it is an inference from the asset line rather than a disclosed figure, and the phrase “FY25 asset build” below is used in that sense. What has not yet appeared is the revenue that spend was meant to produce. Total assets are up 28% since FY24 while trailing revenue is up 22%, and the most recent twelve months show almost no growth at all. That is the gap to watch.

Dividends are a footnote rather than a thesis. The payout ratio was 7% in FY26, 8% in FY24 and zero in several earlier years, giving a yield of 0.57%. Capital is being retained, which is defensible while ROCE is 17.3%, and which becomes harder to defend if it is not.

Dividend yield0.57%The case rests on reinvestment, not income

Eleven times earnings and 1.56 times book is not a demanding rating for a business earning 17.3% on capital. The PEG of 0.67 looks better still, but it is the most fragile number in the table: divide the same 11.2× by the trailing twelve-month profit growth of 9% rather than a longer-run rate and the ratio is above 1.2 instead. Our P/E ratio guide and the stock valuation method behind every scenario on this site both make the same point, that a multiple only means something once you have decided which earnings stream it is being paid for.

The bear reading of this table is that a low multiple on a cyclical, freight-heavy, commodity-input business is not a discount at all but a correct price. The constructive reading is that a decade of 20% profit compounding with a stable margin and modest leverage is not what a commodity business normally looks like, and that the specialty-chemicals share of the mix deserves better than a mining rating.

Valuation framework

The scenario model starts with TTM EPS of ₹19.2. For each year it applies EPS_TTM × (1 + growth)^(year − 2026 + 112/365) × exit P/E, then rounds the result to the nearest ₹5. The 112/365 factor represents the fraction of the first forecast year remaining from 10 September to 31 December. Dividends are excluded.

ScenarioAnnual EPS growthExit P/EBusiness interpretation
Bear6%The revenue pause persists, the FY25 asset build stays underused and the market re-applies a full micro-cap commodity discount
Base11%10×Growth resumes at roughly the three-year sales pace, margin holds near 13%, and the rating stays close to where it is
Bull16%14×The FY25 asset build fills with volume, the specialty-chemicals mix lifts realisation, and the stock is re-rated modestly toward a materials rather than a mining multiple

The multiple range is deliberately anchored below to only modestly above the current 11.2×. Assuming both a return to five-year growth rates and a large permanent expansion of the multiple would simply restate the last five weeks of enthusiasm as a forecast. The growth rates are also moderated: even the bull case sits below the 17% three-year profit CAGR and well below the 23% five-year rate, because a company that has already trebled its profit base rarely repeats the same percentage. These are scenarios, not probability-weighted forecasts.

20 Microns share price target 2026 to 2030

The grid above is generated only from the disclosed EPS, growth and exit-multiple inputs. It does not model a share issue, an acquisition, a mining-lease award or loss, a change in import duty on titanium dioxide or competing filler grades, a freight or energy shock, an exceptional item, or any change in capital structure. It also assumes the share count stays where it is, which has held true since FY16 but is not a promise. Every input should be refreshed after the next annual result before the framework is used again.

Shareholding, and one discrepancy worth flagging

Screener’s holding table at the cut-off showed promoters at 45.04%, foreign institutions at 0.41%, domestic institutions at 0.07% and public at 54.49%. Yahoo’s company profile for the same ticker reported promoter holding of 55.24%. Those two figures cannot both describe the same class of holder on the same date, and the research file records both without reconciling them.

Holder categoryScreener, 10 Sep 2026Note
Promoters45.04%Yahoo reports 55.24% for the same ticker
Foreign institutions0.41%Effectively no foreign institutional interest
Domestic institutions0.07%Effectively no mutual-fund ownership
Public54.49%A majority of the float is retail and non-institutional

Anyone sizing a position should read the quarterly shareholding pattern as filed with the exchanges rather than accept either vendor number. The part that is not in dispute is more important anyway: institutional ownership is close to zero on both counts. That means no analyst coverage to correct mispricing quickly, thin volume, and a share register dominated by holders who can leave at the same time. It cuts both ways, and it is the defining structural fact about this stock.

Risks that can break the thesis

The first risk is the one already visible in the numbers: revenue that has stopped growing after an asset base that has not. If FY27 repeats a flat top line, ROCE falls mechanically because the denominator has grown, and the 17.3% that supports the current multiple stops being true.

The second is input and freight cost. Mined minerals are heavy, low-value-per-tonne goods until they are processed, and the economics depend on power, diesel, grinding media and proximity to both quarry and customer. A margin that has held between 12% and 14% for eight years is evidence of competence, not immunity.

The third is end-market cyclicality. Paints, construction, ceramics, plastics and foundry all move with the Indian industrial and housing cycle. Diversification across twenty end uses smooths this but does not remove it, because most of those end uses slow together.

The fourth is regulatory and lease risk. A vertically integrated miner depends on mining leases, environmental clearances and transport permissions that are granted by state authorities and can be varied. Nothing in the research file indicates a current problem; the point is that this exposure exists and is not quantified in any ratio above.

The fifth is micro-cap structure itself. At ₹759 crore of market capitalisation with 0.48% combined institutional holding, price can move a long way on modest flow, in either direction. The 61% gap between the 52-week low and the cut-off price, achieved without a comparable change in earnings, is the demonstration.

What would change the thesis

The case strengthens if revenue growth returns to the double digits that the three-year and five-year records showed, if operating margin holds at or above 13% while it does so, and if ROCE moves up rather than down as the FY25 asset build is absorbed. A disclosed split between industrial minerals and specialty chemicals revenue would help more than any other single piece of information, because it would let an outsider judge whether the mix shift that justifies a higher multiple is actually happening.

The case weakens if trailing revenue stays flat for another two quarters, if borrowings rise again without a matching rise in sales, if the operating margin breaks below the 12% floor that has held since FY20, or if payout stays minimal while returns on the retained capital fall. A meaningful rise in receivables or inventory relative to sales would be an early warning that volume is being bought rather than won.

What the record supports and what it does not

20 Microns has done something genuinely difficult over a decade. It turned a loss-making FY15 into ₹68 crore of trailing profit, held a narrow operating margin through several cycles, added ₹125 crore to its asset base in a single year without straining a balance sheet that still carries only ₹156 crore of borrowings against ₹484 crore of net worth, and earned 17.3% on capital while doing it. At 11.2 times earnings and 1.56 times book, none of that is being priced as exceptional.

What the record does not yet support is an assumption that the next five years resemble the last five. Sales growth has stepped down from 15% to 11% to 2% across the three windows Screener reports. The asset base has grown faster than the revenue it was built to serve. Institutional ownership is negligible, one vendor’s promoter figure disagrees with another’s by ten percentage points, and the share re-rated 14% in five weeks on no new financial information. The business deserves attention. The evidence that would settle the question is not another product launch but two or three periods of revenue growth catching up with the capital already committed.

FAQ

What is the 20 Microns share price target for 2026?

The scenario grid above derives a 2026 range from trailing EPS of ₹19.2, three annual growth rates and three exit multiples, adjusted for the 112 days left in the calendar year at the cut-off. It is a range of modelled outcomes on stated assumptions, not a forecast or a recommendation, and it changes whenever the underlying EPS changes.

What is the 20 Microns share price target for 2030?

The same framework is extended four further years, compounding EPS at 6%, 11% and 16% and applying exit multiples of 8×, 10× and 14×. The spread between the bear and bull outcomes is wide by design, because a five-year projection on a micro-cap with a 2% trailing growth rate carries real uncertainty at both ends.

What does 20 Microns do?

It mines, micronizes and sells industrial minerals such as kaolin, calcium carbonate, barytes, talc and wollastonite, and manufactures specialty chemicals and additives including precipitated silica, rheology modifiers and titanium dioxide grades. Its customers are formulators in paints, plastics, rubber, ceramics, paper, construction and around a dozen other industries. It was incorporated in 1987 and is headquartered in Vadodara.

What is the ROCE of 20 Microns?

Screener reported return on capital employed of 17.3% at the 10 September 2026 cut-off, with return on equity of 14.5%. The ROE series has been notably stable, at 15% over ten years, 16% over five and three years, and 15% in the latest year. The figure to watch is whether ROCE holds now that the FY25 asset build has enlarged the capital base.

Who are the promoters of 20 Microns?

Screener’s holding table showed the promoter group at 45.04% at the cut-off, while Yahoo Finance reported 55.24% for the same ticker on the same day. The two sources disagree and this article does not resolve the difference. The quarterly shareholding pattern the company files with the exchanges is the authoritative record, and that filing is what should settle the gap.

Is 20 Microns listed on both NSE and BSE?

The research file for this article records the NSE listing under the symbol 20MICRONS, and the NSE quote page linked below is the source used for exchange data. It does not carry a verified BSE reference, so no BSE scrip code is stated here. Check the exchange websites directly before assuming where an order will be routed.

Sources and methodology

All figures were captured after the completed 10 September 2026 session. The annual revenue, operating-margin, net-profit, EPS, payout, balance-sheet and CAGR series, together with the P/E, PEG, EV/EBITDA, price-to-book, book value, face value, debt-to-equity, ROCE, ROE and shareholding figures, come from Screener. The closing price, 52-week range, market capitalisation, EBITDA, total debt, total cash, operating and profit margins, year-on-year revenue and earnings growth, share count, employee count, sector classification and the alternative promoter figure come from Yahoo Finance. The 5 August 2026 comparison points are Screener-derived figures captured on that earlier date. Where the sources disagree, both readings are shown rather than averaged.

Analytical judgment begins after those figures. The scenario growth rates and exit multiples, the reading of the FY25 asset build against flat trailing revenue, the interpretation of the PEG, the weighting of mix disclosure and the risk ranking are ours, not the data vendors’. The scenario engine uses the formula and partial-year convention disclosed above, and the live quote widget does not recalculate it.
